I am a 36 year old Hindu woman of East Indian descent living in Canada. Here is my story.

I was young, 19 at the time, and in love with a married man. I got pregnant and unknown to my family we decided to have and abortion. Of course I could not keep the baby, I was young and unemployed and he was married.

17 years later I still regret it. I often wonder how he or she would look. What would be his or her career choice?

I later got married and had a beautiful daughter. Needless to say that marriage fell apart and after a few years I got involved with someone else.

We went on to have handsome twin boys. Throughout the relationship we had our ups and downs but mostly downs. His mother lived with us and she ruled the house. I decided I could not live with him always choosing and loving her more than the kids and I so I finally left him.

After I left I found out I was pregnant again. He asked me to keep the baby and move back in with him but after looking back at the unhappy times I was so disappointed in him that I went ahead and had the abortion.

It was safe but to this day I regret it. Being a single mom of three kids is not financially easy and I did what I had to do at the time. I wish I did not do it and I miss both of them and now I have to live with never knowing them.
